Acid-free wheel cleaner is Emchem’s own-label alloy wheel cleaner for valeting, fleet wash bays and home use. It’s applied neat, lifts brake dust, grime and road debris in a two-minute soak, and rinses off with clean water. For heavy build-up, our Wheel Cleaner (acid-based) does the harder job at the same price, from £5.99.
Features and benefits
- Acid-free formula. Our acid-based version discloses hydrochloric acid at over 9% w/w. This one is the maintenance-wash choice.
- Two-minute dwell. Leave it to soak for two minutes before you agitate, and don’t let it dry out.
- Used neat. Apply it directly. There’s no dilution rate. Decant into a smaller container, such as the IK TR 1 trigger spray (£8.99), for controlled application.
- Disclosed ingredients. Non-ionic surfactants under 5% and phosphates under 5%.
- Four sizes, 1L to 1000L. One product covers the wash bay through to a single car at home, from £5.99.
- Same price as the acid-based version. Going acid-free costs nothing extra at any size.

Great for: routine wheel washing rather than restoration work. Agitate with a soft brush: the Vikan soft alloy wheel brush (£15.50) suits that step. The rest of the range, including the acid-based option, is in Wheel Cleaners.
Not sure it suits your finish? Refurbished alloys are out, and we can’t confirm it suits diamond-cut, polished, anodised, Dura-Bright or bare aluminium finishes. Email Emma at emma@emchem.co.uk before you use it on those.
