Powder free blue nitrile gloves for examination work, food handling and general cleaning. This is Aurelia’s Sonic 100 in cobalt blue, a 2.2 mil glove certified twice over: Class I medical device under MDR (EU) 2017/745, and Category III PPE under Regulation (EU) 2016/425. Finger textured, ambidextrous, boxed in 100 at £5.50.
Features and benefits
- 2.2 mil nitrile. Min. 0.09mm at the fingertip, 0.05mm across the palm, so you keep the feel for small fittings and fasteners.
- AQL 1.5. The medical acceptance level for freedom from holes under EN 455, checked by sampling rather than glove by glove.
- Finger textured with a beaded cuff. Grip where the work is, and a palm that stays flexible.
- No natural rubber latex. Suits a site that has taken latex out of the building.
- EN ISO 374-1 Type B, codes JKT. At least 30 minutes breakthrough against n-heptane, 40% sodium hydroxide and 37% formaldehyde. Those three chemicals, and no others.
- Declared for short term food contact. Dry, fatty, alcoholic and aqueous food, under EEC 1935/2004, EC 10/2011 and EC 2023/2006.
Worth knowing what it isn’t. It’s non-sterile, so keep it away from any procedure that needs a sterile glove. There’s no EN 388 mechanical rating, so don’t treat it as cut or puncture resistant. And it contains accelerators, which may cause allergic reactions, so it won’t solve a glove allergy.
It’s single use, so don’t wash and re-wear it. The food-contact declaration covers short term contact only, not long term.

The VIRUS marking under EN ISO 374-5 is a penetration resistance result. It means the film held out viral penetration under test, not that the glove acts against a virus.
